Hello BetweenWeekdays Readers!
I recently made the conscious effort to go cruelty free in my makeup and hair care products. I thought I would share some of my favorite items that are also friendly to our furry animals. Before I share my list, I will tell you I verify every brand I buy on the PETA website. They’re my go to for verifying the truth about a brand. You can also look for the coveted Bunny seal on your favorite products.
Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
The discovery of Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara was a happy accident. I happened upon it during Ulta‘s 21 Days of Beauty (one of my favorite holiday periods). I was able to buy it for half off and have never looked back. I constantly have people ask if I’m wearing fake eyelashes because this mascara makes my own lashes look so full and so long. I cannot recommend it enough!
Josie Maran’s Argan Enlightenment Illumizing Wand
I adore all things Josie Maran! Her line of makeup takes some of the best things from nature and incorporates them into her makeup. She has developed a whole line of skin care using Argan oil (which is also amazing for hard to manage hair like mine), and I honestly just want to try everything in her collection. This Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand is used daily to give a little shimmer to my cheeks and under my eyes.
Josie Maran’s Coconut Water Lip Stain + Shine
Again, I say I’m obsessed with Josie Maran. I discovered the Coconut Watercolor Lip Stain + Shine once I realized my Sephora lipstick fell into the not so animal friendly category. I’m so glad I made the switch. The stain is beautiful on my lips while making them look healthier, and I can feel better knowing I’m supporting a worthy company. I never leave the house without my tube of aptly named “Getaway red” stain. Even if you’re not feeling the stain that day, you can wear the gloss alone.
Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion was another find during Ulta‘s 21 Days of Beauty. I can’t believe I spent the first 10 years of my adult life without using eyeshadow primer. It makes such a huge difference in keeping eye makeup flawless all day. Although Urban Decay’s primary company (L’Oreal) is wishy washy on their animal testing stance, PETA has deemed UD cruelty free and I trust their seal of approval.
Eylure’s Brow Palette
I love this little compact brow palette for making sure my brows look their best. It’s also the cheapest on my list for a steal at $14.99. I love that a little goes a long way, and I have been using the same palette for almost six months. That’s a pretty big bang for your buck. This was the only thing I use that I could not verify through PETA, but was able to verify elsewhere. It is a British company.
Well there we have it! Five wonderful products that I use on a daily basis with a clean conscience. What cruelty free items are you currently loving? Be sure to check out peta.org for more information on making the cruelty-free commitment!
