Can’t Live Without ‘Em Electronics

February 23, 2015

A friend of mine is preparing for a move to Japan later this year and has been trying to decide which items she needs to take and which items still need to be purchased. This conversation got me thinking about the items around my house that are indispensible to my husband and I and the way we live our lives.

I’ve already shared a list of kitchen items I’d hate to be without, so I thought it would be fun to share the list of electronics my husband and I use on a regular (i.e. daily) basis.

1. MacBook Pro

My husband bought my MBP for me when I lost my job a few years back so I could pursue freelance work. I was already a Mac girl, so the transition wasn’t difficult. I’m so happy I made the move from a desktop to a laptop. This little machine has gone everywhere with me, and would probably be the item I would grab if the house caught fire (just after our three precious furbabies, of course). I have the 15 inch, and it’s just perfect.

2. xBox One

This would be the item my husband would grab in the event of a fire (just after our three precious furbabies, of course). He’s an avid gamer, but I love the xBox One for entirely different reasons. It’s voice controlled, which means I can turn it on and navigate without having to learn to use the controller. A button? B button? What? It also comes free with xBox Fitness, which has allowed me to give up my gym membership. It automatically syncs with your television and cable, so getting to HGTV is super easy: “xBox turn on. xBox watch TV. xBox go to HGTV.” BAM.

3. iRobot Roomba

Having three shedding furry children is rough, but not with our Roomba! I turn this thing on, and the floors are clean in no time. I usually “vacuum” several times a week, which completely eliminates the pet hair problem in our house. It also picks up errant kitty litter, which is a total bonus. This model has a spot clean feature, which is surprisingly handy. These can be a bit pricy, but we purchased ours on sale at Kohls, used coupons, and received Kohls cash, which all helped to make the purchase a bit easier on the wallet.

And that’s my Top 3 favorite electronics. While we have several other contenders in the electronics category, these are the three electronics we use daily. What are your favorite electronics? Anything we need to add to our list to try?
