Blue House

Happy One-Year Anniversary, Blue House!

December 28, 2013

We closed on our blue house exactly one year ago today, and my how time flies. In honor of our anniversary, I thought it might be fun to look back on my favorite posts from each month this year.

Showing off the before photos of our home was a lot of fun. And looking back now, it’s hard to believe where we came from.

The Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013 kicked off in February with a new — and much improved — dining room light along with an interesting shuffle.

The light fixture that was in the dining room was much too small, so it was moved to the hallway leading to our master bedroom.

The Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013 really picked up speed in March when we addressed the office with some bling from our first house, the entry and guest suite hallway with function, the laundry room with a budget-friendly solution and the kitchen with a major lighting upgrade. Where we went from this…

So much better, right?

I also hosted my first of two baby showers in March. This one had a hot pink and zebra theme and was a huge success.

April brought Spring weather, which brought entertaining! We love entertaining guests and for the first time we were really able to entertain since we live in the same town as our family. Here’s some of my favorite entertaining posts from April:

We hosted the second baby shower in June. This shower had a sweetly-vintage, gender neutral theme.

July marked the six-month anniversary of living in our blue house, and I enjoyed a look back at all that we accomplished in those first six months.

I also began preparing for Christmas in July. I know it sounds crazy, but getting a head start on the Christmas gifts really helps save my sanity.

My most-favorite update this year was painting the front door red. It was a simple project that had a bunch of impact.

I also hosted a Garden Week here on the blog in August. This was my first year to have a large garden, and I learned a bunch!

September brought a big change in my life: I went back to work. Naturally, the bog (and the house) took a back seat.

I finally found art for the dining room during an expedition to Ikea! Plus, I had a lot of fun decorating the table for fall.

November was a sparse month here on the blog, but I did manage to share a GIANT to-do list for our blue house.

December was all about Christmas, and I had a lot of fun decorating for our first Christmas in our blue house!
