Blue House

Simple Update, Big Difference

August 6, 2013

When we moved in our blue house, we knew we’d need to replace the dining room window. The seal had broken, so it had begun collecting moisture between the panes of glass making it impossible to see outside.

It was actually even worse in person than in the photo above. The window always came up in conversation during a dinner party. A gross window is totally not what you want your guest to focus on during dinner.

Luckily for us, we have a family friend who installs windows. He offered to replace the window for free, which means this update only cost us $150 for the new window. He came over and took all of the measurements and ordered the new window for us. All I had to do was go pay. He even picked it up and delivered it to us.

There’s trees out there! Who knew?

This is one of those updates that isn’t flashy or something your guests will notice, but it sure does make a big difference in my life. The dining room now has an actual view and twice as much sunlight streaming in. After living with the old window for seven months, I’m so glad we finally got around to making this update.

Oh, and you didn’t think I let the window installer go home empty handed did you? Check back in later this week to see his thank you gift.
