We’ve finally come to the end of the Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013. We’ve already discussed the majority of the lights within our home, and believe it or not, there are still a couple of lights left: the ones we didn’t change.
The back guest bedroom (tour coming up next week!) had a nice ceiling fan already. Remember, we live in the South, and most people love having ceiling fans in bedrooms around here. Since this is a guest bedroom, I think it’s important to consider what guests like even though I’m not a fan of the ceiling fan.
As far as ceiling fans go, I think this one’s actually very pretty. The only problem I have with it is when the light and fan are both on, the blades make the light flash on the ceiling. It’s a strange thing to watch, especially when we can see the flashing light from our living room. I’ve decided just to keep the fan off for now. Problem solved.
Here it is with the light on:
See how it casts strange shadows up? Now just imagine what happens to those shadows when the fan is on. Even with its challenges, I have no plans to change this fixture. (At least for now.)
There was another ceiling fan originally in the house that also made the final cut. This one is located in the living room.
Right now, the fan blades are brown. Pretty soon, I’ll be painting them black.
The star in this space is definitely the crystal chandelier in the office. This fan doesn’t compete, but the nickel finish doesn’t match as well as I would like. However, I have no plans to replace this fixture any time soon. Maybe one day, but probably not.
The only other original light fixture to stay is in the guest bathroom.
It’s nothing special, but I like it. So it gets to stay.
That wraps up the Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013. I can’t promise that I won’t make any more lighting changes before the end of the year, but for now, we’re done.
