I love looking back at each month to see where we’ve been. It’s also a pretty good reminder of where we’ve yet to go. March was spent talking about baby showers and lights with a few other (never before seen) goodies tossed in.
The month kicked off with a quick and easy greeting card storage solution. If you’re anything like me, you buy the cards, forget to give them out, lose them, buy more cards, forget about them and on and on and on it goes. I had to get off of the insane greeting card merry go round once and for all, and this is how I did it.
I’m happy to report that I was able to easily find a thank you card when our neighbors brought over a welcome to the neighborhood gift basket! My greeting card systems is working just as well as I had hoped it might.
We moved on to Part II of the Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013, where we discussed the office light situation. The “new” light in the office is my very favorite, and I’m also pleased that we were able to find a new home for the previous office light fixture.
Since my sister’s-in-law baby shower was held the first weekend of March, it took me about a week to recap it for the blog. I hope she was as pleased with the shower as I was. I actually had one of the guests look me up on Facebook to tell me how nice everything was, which made me feel very good inside. (In case I haven’t mentioned it before, the expectant dad is Travis’ brother. No, they don’t look anything alike, nor do they act anything alike.)
It’s been a long time since I shared a Complexities of Isabel post, so I thought a post dedicated to my sweetly-complicated chihuahua was overdue. This installment discusses her many, many names. She is named after a queen, so I would expect her to be a bit complicated in the name department. To read Part I, which tells a hilarious story of a pink food dish, click here. To read Part II, which discusses a list of her loves (including the color pink, no joke), click here.
Speaking of one of my precious furbabies, I also created a page dedicated solely to them this month. It lives on the top navigational panel, where I will continue to update it.
I also created two additional pages this month, as well. The first is dedicated to our blue house. This is where the Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013 will live along with a house tour and other blue house posts. The third new page is a source list of everything in our home. I always love reading these on other blogs as I find them so helpful. Here’s hoping you’ll find this one helpful, as well. All of the new pages can be found on the top navigational panel just below the header.
The Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013 trudged along when we discussed the entry lights. Two and half were new, two were tossed out and half of one was reused in another space. It sounds confusing, but it’s really not. I think.
Bouncing back to the baby shower, I shared the “games” we played. I’m not a fan of the typical embarrassing baby shower games, plus I needed games that could be played for the guests who dropped in without staying the entire three hours. I broke down all of the games we played and how well they went over in this post.
Back in February (doesn’t that seem so long ago now?), I participated in an Instagram photo a day challenge. It was a lot of fun, and definitely helped encourage me to take more pictures. I can’t wait to complete another photo-a-day challenge.
The Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013 trudged along when we entered the laundry room. This room didn’t see any shuffling action, but, instead, received a brand new fixture. Unfortunately, I didn’t account for the light only lighting below and not above. Live and learn, right?
The next hot pink and zebra baby shower post was a full rundown of what we ate, exactly how we served it, table decor and what menu items were hits and misses. (Spoiler alert: broccoli was the only slight miss.)
As the month moved along, I decided to share an admission: I have a lot of shoes. To see just how many, you’ll have to read the post where I also mention some ideas I’ve seen to corral them. Warning: my closet is a disaster!
Our kitchen received some new lighting (not without complications, of course) in Part V of the Great Lighting Shuffle of 2013. I can’t help but stare lovingly at the new lighting in there every time I walk in the room now; especially at night. Sigh, I’m in love.
The last hot pink and zebra baby shower post was a recap of all the loot the expectant parents took home! In addition to gifts, they also took home quite a bit of the shower decor making cleanup a breeze for me.
I’m a little sad that the baby shower posts are wrapping up, but not to worry. I’ve got another baby shower on the docket for this summer!
The last post in March (can you believe it’s already April?) is what I like to call Easter Baskets Two Ways: Baby and Husband.
Travis and I had a very happy Easter Sunday, and I hope all of you did, too! And, yes, he absolutely loved his first Easter basket.
What’s in store for April you ask? Probably a couple more lighting posts. Have I mentioned I really love lighting? Also, I hope to show off more of our new house. Plus, gardening season is here!
What did you do to make March 2013 the best ever? For me, March marked the third full month in our new house. Each day this place feels more and more like home.
