Easter is one of my most favorite holidays. I may not have decided to decorate our home this year, but I did put together a couple of cute Easter baskets.
An Easter Basket for Baby
The first basket is for my “brother’s” baby. His wife is due in August, so we don’t even know the sex of the baby just yet. Who cares? I already love the kid, so I’ll make him or her an Easter basket! (I would make one for our nephew or yet-to-be-born niece, but they have grandparents for this type of thing.)
Not knowing the sex definitely made things a bit more difficult, but I was still able to find plenty of gift basket items.
Baby D’s gift basket will include:
- A felt basket from the dollar spot at Target that looks like grass and is decorated sweet ladybugs and flowers. I think this could look cute in the nursery, and if not, that’s ok, too.
- “Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!”
- A stuffed bunny with a sweet pink nose from Kohl’s
- Adorable Carter’s Easter pajamas in size newborn. I think these are perfect for easter, but also acceptable for later, too. Here’s a closeup of the bunny:
Fitting everything in the felt basket was a bit challenging, but totally doable. To get the pajamas to fit, I rolled them up and tied it together with a yellow ribbon.
The adorable chick feet are on on the back of the little pajama bundle. It’s so cute! But how does it fit in the basket? Pretty well, I’d say:
I love it! Here’s hoping Baby D’s parents do, too! This book is just a preview of all the books yet to come from Aunt Katie. I’m already working on building up Baby D’s library. Speaking of which, what are your favorite children books?
An Easter Basket for Husband
When I got the idea to build an Easter basket for Baby D, I told Travis. I asked him if the Easter Bunny brought him Easter baskets when he was growing up (a tradition in my house), but the Easter Bunny never did.
This year the Easter Bunny is bringing Travis an Easter basket!
What’s in the Easter basket?
- Beef Jerkey
- Golf Shirt
- Hershey Bar
- Milky Way Egg
- Mini Cadbury Eggs
- Reeses Egg
- Reversible Belt
- Snickers Egg
- Starburst Jelly Beans
- Tervis Tumbler
- University of Tennessee Jacket
- White Chocolate Covered Pretzels
While Travis’ basket might not be as cute as the baby’s, I don’t think he would want it to be. I can’t for him to see what the Easter Bunny left him on Easter morning!
What Easter traditions did you grow up with? I always got a new dress (usually with a hat!) for church and an Easter basket first thing in the morning. Travis always had egg hunts with all of his cousins in the afternoon. While I don’t get new dresses or Easter baskets anymore, we still help hide eggs for the annual egg hunt at Travis’ grandparent’s house after church. It’s a lot of fun!
Happy Easter everyone!
