Weekend Recap: Saturday, June 4: A golf tournament and a wedding

What a weekend! We didn’t get nearly as much accomplished as I had hoped, but we sure did have fun.

Saturday, the husband played in a golf tournament sponsored by his work while I took Roxy to the vet for her yearly checkup. (Roxy is our 3-year-old, rescue dog.) Travis had a blast; Roxy? Not so much. She received a clean bill of health and everyone who met her loved her. Of course. She’s lovable.

Once we were all home I found the husband, Roxy and Isabel (our four-pound, princess Chihuahua) napping on the couch.

The husband and pups had a bid day Saturday.

They napped for about 3 hours while I tried to keep quiet.

I did eventually have to wake the husband up, because we were attending a wedding that night. Squeal! There’s practically nothing I love more than a wedding! I’ve planned a few weddings (including my own) and been in my fair share as a bridesmaid.

We had so much fun visiting with the bride (a former coworker of mine) and her new husband and, of course, a lot of my other former coworkers. It was so good to catch up with these people who at one time were practically family!

Toward the end of the reception, though, the once-a-bridesmaid-always-a-bridesmaid mentality came over me when I volunteered to take home the top tier of the wedding cake and the remainder of the groom’s cake to freeze. The husband didn’t complain a bit. I think he expected it. (More on the proper way to preserve a wedding cake here.)

We ended up bringing most of the second tier of the cake home with us, too. Hope my coworkers enjoyed Monday!

We stayed out entirely too late after the wedding catching up with old friends. I sipped water and chatted it up at a really beautiful, local bar while the husband played pool with some old friends. It was a night we’ll remember for a long time. Weddings tend to have that effect on us.

I’d like to think the reason I have no pictures from the evening is because I was too caught up enjoying myself, when, truthfully, I simply forgot the camera at home. Bad pretend bridesmaid!
